The construction of this infrastructure is carried out gradually from 2020-2023 covering the Water Resources Field with a total budget of Rp 406.9 billion and connectivity or access roads of Rp619.1 billion. As an early stage of development, the 30,000-hectare food estate is used for holticulture crops such as potatoes, onions, and garlic.
PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the key to the food estate development program was the availability of water for irrigation, along with its agricultural technology. Synergy of irrigation and agricultural infrastructure planning conducted between the Ministry of PUPR together with the Ministry of Ministry aims to develop a modern and integrated food estate from upstream to downstream.
“Kami memang fokusnya untuk menyiapkan food estate yang modern, sehingga nantinya tidak hanya dimanfaatkan saat produksi tetapi juga pasca produksi,” kata Basuki dalam keterangan tertulis, Rabu (28/10).
